Wednesday, July 2, 2008 Cypress Shops Silicon Light Machines to Japanese FirmCypress Semiconductor Corp., a manufacturer of mixed-signal integrated circuits, announced Tuesday that it has sold its Silicon Light Machines subsidiary to Japanese semiconductor equipment supplier Dainippon Screen. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Silicon Light Machines, which Cypress acquired in August 2000, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Dainippon Screen. The company produces small, silicon-based machines for handling light, which are then integrated into high-end displays, commercial printing and other imaging applications. Cypress said Kyoto-based Dainippon Screen is Silicon Light Machines' largest purchaser of grating light valves, which are used to build optical microelectromechanical systems.
