Asempra Acquired By Data Storage Firm

Santa Clara-based Asempra, a manufacturer of data recovery software for the Windows market, has been acquired by San Diego-based Bakbone Software. BakBone said it will pay 3,846,154 shares of its stock plus approximately $350,000 in cash for Asempra in the acquisition. Base on Bakbone's closing price as of Friday, the deal is worth approximately $1.9M. Asempra had raised more than $29M in funding from Menlo Ventures, Polaris Venture Partners, and US Venture Partners.
