Ask.com Buys Ask.fm
Oakland-based online question and answer site Ask.com said yesterday that it has acquired Ask.fm, a competing question and answer site which focuses on letting people ask other users random questions. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Ask.com said Ask.fm has over 180 million monthly unique users in more than 150 countries around the world. Ask.com said that Ask.fm's founders will no longer be involved in the operations or retain any equity, and that it has also inked a deal with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler to increase safety of Ask.fm's service--which has been under fire for allegations of widespread cyber bullying on the site. Ask.com is owned by IAC.
