Lightbox Acquired By Facebook

Lightbox, a developer of photo sharing services for Android, is being acquired by Facebook, the company told its users Tuesday morning. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. According to Lightbox founders Thai Tran and Nilesh Patel, the firm will be shutting down it services, allowing its users to download photos until June 15th, and will open source portions of the code it has written for the service. The two said they will be working on Facebook's mobile products. Lightbox had been backed by Index Ventures, Accel Partners, SV Angel, 500 Startups, as well as other angels.
