Startup Weekend Buys Startup Digest

Startup Weekend, the group which runs the ubiquitous startup events, said today that it has acquired StartupDigest, the email newsletter provider which points entrepreneurs to local, startup events. According to Startup Weekend, it is turning StartupDigest into a nonprofit, with Editorial Director Jessica Ford and Co-Founder Brendan McManus joining the nonprofit to grow the combined organizations. Chris McCann, co-founder of StartupDigest, and CTO Chris Burnor have left to build a new product called GroupTie. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed.
