Metconnex Sells Technology To JDSU
Milpitas-based JDSU announced today that it has acquired the technology and patent portfolio of Metconnex Canada, a firm that develops equipment for the telecom market. The deal, worth $2.5M, gives JDSU Metconnex's intellectual property, but does not involve any of Metconnex's business operations. JDSU said that it will acquire and liquidate Metconnex, as part of an agreement to dismiss pending litigation that JDSU has pending against Metconnex. JDSU said that it had litigation pending against Metconnex and certain officers and employees for alleged violation of JDSU patent and intellectual property rights. Metconnex was a maker of wavelength selective switches, used in reconfigurable optical multiplexers.
