Cisco Expands In India
San Jose-based Cisco said today that it has opened up a new globalization center in India, as part of the firm's $1.1B investment in the country. The new Cisco Globalization Center East calls for Wim Elfrink, currently Senior Vice President of Customer Advocacy, to relocate to Bangalore as Chief Globalization Officer. Cisco says it nows employs 2000 in India. Cisco also said that it has now allocated more than $750M towards R&D in the country, and allocated more than $100M for venture investments in the firm. The company said it has invested $5M in Indiagames and Bharti Telesoft last year, and will invest another $25 to $30M in the region in companies involved in broadband content and digital media.
