iKoa Raises $9.4M
Menlo Park-based iKoa, a firm developing chips for increasing the performance and power consumption of sub-micron semiconductors used for the mobile market, has raised $9.4M in a Series A round from Global Catalyst Partners and Khosla Ventures. The firm said the funding will go towards further technology develop and engineering. iKoa is designing VLSI focused, digital signal processing based processing IP, specifically targeted at 65nm and smaller geometries. The DSP chips will be targeted at voice processing, high definition video, communications, and other areas. Digital signal processors are specialized chips made for processing and manipulating analog signals, and are heavily used for communications, audio, and other signal-heavy applications. iKoa also maintains operatings in Hyderabad, India.
