SiRF Buys Centrality Communications For $283M
San Jose-based SiRF Technology Holdings said Thursday evening that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Redwood City-based Centrality Communications. The deal is worth $283M in stock and cash. Centrality develops systems-on-a-chip (SoC) products focused on navigation and multimedia on mobile devices. SiRF is a developer of GPS-enabled chips for the location-based services market. Centrality employs more than 190, with its main development center in Shanghai. The transaction is expected to close this quarter.
