Topix Names New CEO

Palo Alto-based Topix said Tuesday afternoon that the firm has named a new CEO. The firm said that Chris Tolles has been appointed as CEO, succeeding founder Rich Skrenta. Tolles has been at Topix since 2004. The firm said that Skrenta will remain on the firm's board as an active board member. Tolles has previously served as Vice President of Marketing at Spoke Software, and at AOL/Netscape and Sun Microsystems. Topix is backed by Gannett Co., The McClatchy Company, and Tribune Company.
