Komag Acquired By Western Digital For $1B
San Jose-based Komag is being acquired by Lake Forest, California-based disk drive maker Western Digital, in a $1 billion deal, the firms said Thursday. Western Digital and Komag said Thursday afternoon that WD will pay $32.25 in cash per share for Komag, a supplier of thin-film disk drive media used by disk drive manufacturers. Western Digital is a manufacturer of comptuer hard disk drives. Komag's media is an integral part of the disk drives manufactured by Western Digital and other hard drive makers.
