Grouper Becomes Crackle
Grouper, the online video sharing site that was acquired by Sony in 2006, has renamed itself Crackle. Sausalito, California-based Crackle said that the firm will provide distribution of content from Sony Pictures Animation, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Television, IMPROV Comedy Lab and other. The firm has also launched a quarterly content for the firmn's animation channel, which will provide funding to develop and produce short form material for the site. Sony acquired Grouper for $65M in August of 2006.
