Wal-Mart Jumps On MP3 Bandwagon
Wal-Mart said today that it has launched a new, MP3 music download store on its web site, where it will offer DRM-free music tracks for download. The retailing giant said that the new MP3 digital tracks will come from record labels such as Universal and EMI Music, and will be available for 94 cents per track and $9.22 per album. According to the firm, music from The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, KT Tunstall, Amy Winehouse, Maroon 5, George Strait and Nelly will be available in the MP3 format. Wal-Mart said that it will continue to give its customers the option of downloading Windows Media (WMA) format music, which is available for $0.88 per track.
