Santa Clara-based Macrovision said this morning that it has agreed to acquire certain technology assets from San Francisco-based Cryptography Research, Inc. The deal is worth $45 million in cash plus warrants. Macrovision said that it will own SPDC (Self-Protection Digital Content) technology, which is a key part of Blue-ray's content security platform. The company will also hire certain employees involved in the technology. The deal is expected to close in Q4 of 2007.
