Yahoo Adds OpenID Support

Sunnyvale-based Yahoo said today that it has added support for the industry OpenID initiative, saying that the effort will allow its users to eliminate the need for separate IDs and logins at various websites, blogs, and profile pages. OpenID is an open standard for managing identities and login information for web sites and allowing for "single sign-on" to those sites. According to Yahoo, anyone with a Yahoo! ID will now be able to access both Yahoo services and any site that supports OpenID 2.0. The open access support is expected to be available in beta by January 30th.
