Intuit Opens QuickBase To Developers

Mountain View-based Intuit said today that it has launched a beta release of QuickBase Development Environment, a way for third party developers to connect into the firm's software for creating workgroup applications. According to Intuit, the new development program allows developers to create rich Internet applications which work with QuickBooks. The new development environment uses the popular Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE) combined with Adobe Flex, to allow for synchronization of QuickBooks data files. The new developer applicatoin is targeted at applications such as e-mail notifications, reporting, and other enterprise applications. In addition to the APIs, Intuit said applications developed through the program will be marketed on the firm's Intuit Solutions Marketplace for Quickbook add-ons. The developer program includes a software development kit (SDK), a QuickBase developer account, and training.
