Yahoo Opens Search API

Sunnyvale-based Yahoo! said late last night that it has opened up a new web services platform which will allow third parties to create their own web search applications. The firm said its Yahoo! Search BOSS (Build Your Own Search Service) will allow third parties to re-rank and control presentation of web search results from Yahoo. The service is now in beta. Yahoo said the new API allows for unlimited queries per day, and provides access to Yahoo! search results from the web, news, and image indexes. Yahoo will also add search advertising and other capabilities to the service over the next few months.
