Pacific Biosciences Gets $100M

Menlo Park-based Pacific Biosciences has raised $100M in a Series E funding, the firm said today. The firm, which develops a real-time, DNA sequencing platform, said the round was co-led by Deerfield Capital Management and Intel Capital. New investors in this round included Morgan Stanley, Redmile Group, T. Rowe Price, and an unnamed large financial institution, with prior investors Mohr Davidow Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Alloy Ventures, Maverick Capital, AllianceBernstein, DAG Ventures, and Teachers' Private Capital also participating.
