Sling Begins Shipping Slingbox PRO-HD
Foster City-based Sling Media announced that it is shipping a new, HD version of the firm's Slingbox hardware today, saying that it has begun shipping its new Slingbox PRO-HD, a HD-capable streaming device, along with upgraded software. Sling Media, which is now owned by EchoStar, said the new device will retail for $299.99, and handles streaming of HD content from over-the-air HD, HDTV cable set-top boxes, HDTV satellite receivers, or HD DVRs. The upgraded device also can stream HD on connetions with 1.5 megabits per second or higher speeds. Sling Media announced the PRO-HD in January.
