Layoffs Hit Silicon Valley Blog Valleywag

Valleywag is reporting that its publisher, Gawker Media, has laid off 19 of its 133 editorial positions, including three editors for Valleywag itself. Valleywag, which provides often-irreverant commentary on Silicon Valley technology firms, said that associate editors nicholas Carlson and Jackson West, and reporter Melissa Gira Grant have all been laid off from Gawker. In a letter published by Valleywag, the firm's publisher, Nick Denton, said "You can guess the reason for these brutal measures: the recession."
