Trimble Buys Software Assets From KOREC

Sunnyvale-baed Trimble, a manufacturer of GPS surveying equipment, is continuing on its acquisition binge, saying this morning that it has acquired software assets from KOREC, a distributor of the firm's products in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Trimble said it purchased the FastMap and GeoSite software from KOREC, including the firm's software development, professional services, and business development teams. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. FastMAP is a software suite used for GIS data collection. The firm said the move will allow it to expand its Mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions, and software and professional services in Europe, Afirca, and the Middle East. The buy is only the latest in a long string of acquisition by Trimble this year, including the buy of Rawson Control Systems earlier this month; Tru Count in October; RolleiMetric in September; SECO Manufacturing in July; GEO-3D in January; and Crain Enterprise, also in January.
