Apple's Jobs Takes Leave Of Absence
Apple Computer's Steve Job is taking a medical leave of absence, saying in a letter to employees that his health issues are "more complex than I originally thought." In the letter, released to the press, Jobs said that the would take a medical leave of absence until the end of June, handing off day-to-day operations to Tim Cook. Jobs has been the subject of an enormous amount of speculation over his health, most recently saying he had a "hormone imbalance" which was affecting his weight. Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer five years ago; recent rumors around Jobs health were racheted up a notch when Apple announced Jobs would not keynote the MacWorld conference earlier this month.
