Zynga, a developer of games for mobile phones and social networking Web sites, reported Wednesday that it has hired Brandon Barber to fill the newly created role of vice president of marketing. The San Francisco-based firm said Barber hails from Electronic Arts, where he worked for seven years, most recently as senior director of global online marketing. Before EA, Zynga noted, he ran the product team for the original Napster music-sharing network. Zynga is a privately held company backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, IVP, Union Square Ventures, the Foundry Group, Avalon Ventures, the Pilot Group, Reid Hoffman and Peter Thiel.
