Google Lets Users Ad Target Themselves
Mountain view-based Google said today that it has rolled out a number of features which allow users to target advertising to themselves. The firm said its "interest-based" advertising effort will launch on partner sites and on YouTube, and will allow visitors to those sites to specify the kinds of ads they'd like to see. Google said the features will allow users to specify certain categories of ads--for example, sports, gardening, cars, or pets--which will influence what kind of advertising will show up on visits to AdSense powered pages. The service also allows users to indicate what categories of ads users do not want to see.
