GrandCentral Becomes Google Voice

Google has re-launched GrandCentral, the voice communications firm the company acquired in July of 2007, last night, as Google Voice. According to Google, Google Voice will help users better manage voice communications, allowing users to get transcripts of voicemail, archiving and search of SMS text messages, make low cost international calls, and get access to directory assistance. GrandCentral Communications had been based in Fremont, and was headed by Halsey Minor, founder of CNet.
