International VC Drops, Too
Dow Jones VentureSource is reporting today that international markets are also seeing a steep dropoff in venture capital investment, with investments of 50 percent less capital than in the first quarter of 2008. According to Dow Jones, $1.87 billion was invested in 250 deals in Europe, Israel, China, and India in the first quarter, down from $3.65 billion in 430 deals in the same period last year. That matches with a similar drop in the U.S., which saw $3.89 bhillion in 477 deals in the first quarter.
