MIPS Sells Analog Business To Synopsys
Mountain View-based MIPS Technologies and Synopsys, also in Mountain View, said this morning that MIPS has sold its Analog Business Group to Synopsys for $22M in cash. According to the MIPS, the divestiture will allow it to focus on its core microprocessor IP. Synopsys said that the unit will help expand its DesignWare intellectual property portfolio. The MIPS unit was originally part of Chipidea Microelectronics S.A., which MIPS acquired in August of 2007; the unit develops analog to digital (A/D) converters, digital to analog (D/A) converters, audio codecs, and power management silicon.
