MAPLight Rolls Web API
Berkeley-based MAPLight.org, a nonprofit that publishes web data on campaign contributions and legislative votes, announced Thursday that it has rolled out a web API which allows anyone with programming skills to pull data about congressional bills and votes. According to the nonprofit, the API--which uses JSON and XML--will provide live, up-to-date feeds of companies, organizations, and interest groups positions on key bills in congress. The firm launched its API on the same day as the Obama administrations' Data.gov, an effort to make U.S. government data sets more available to the public.
