Playdom Scores $43M, Buys Two Firms
Mountain View-based Playdom, a developer of social games, said earlier this week that it raised $43M in a Series A investment round. The round was led by New Enterprise Associates, and also included Lightspeed Venture Partners, Norwest Venture Partners, and the firm's chairman, Rick Thompson. The firm said the funding would go towards strategic acquisitions and to its pipeline. Scott Sandell of NEA has joined the firm's board as part of the funding. As part of the funding, the firm has acquired Green Patch, a developer of Facebook games, and Trippert Labs, an iPhone games developer.
