Symantec Buys Gideon Technologies
Mountain View-based Symantec said Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire Gideon Technologies, a developer of IT security and risk management software. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. According to Symantec, it is acquiring Gideo Technologies to add support for the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), a new standard which is being used by security software products to communicate software flaw and security configuration information. Symantec said the new standard is being required by the U.S. federal government for data sharing and interoperability.
