Ocarina Networks Acquired by Dell
San Jose-based Ocarina Networks, a developer of object-based, data compression and deduplication technology, has been acquired by computer maker Dell. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Dell said it would maintain and invest in additional engineering and sales in Ocarina, and does not plan to move Ocarina's operations. Ocarina was backed by Highland Capital, JAFCO American Ventures, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, and is headed by Murli Thirumale.
