Microsoft Taps Blue Line For Wireless Energy Monitoring

Microsoft is tapping San Francisco-based home energy monitoring device maker Blue Line to add wireless energy monitoring to its online, Hohm energy site this morning. According to Microsoft, it has connected Blue Line's PowerCost MOnitor, to allow users of the home energy monitoring service to see real-time electricity usage on the service. Details of the business deal between the firms was not disclosed. According to Microsoft, users who purchase Blue Line's wireless monitoring units can now track and see their energy usage in Hohm, using those users' wireless Internet connection. Microsoft Hohm is Microsoft's answer to Google PowerMeter, the energy monitoring service being run by Google.
