CloudMade Captures $12.3M
Menlo Park-based CloudMade, a developer of online tools for open mapping, said Tuesday that it has raised $12.3M in a Series B investment round. The round was led by Greylock Partners, and also included prior investor Sunstone Capital. CloudMade is developing APIs and software which take advantage of open source mapping projects, such as OpenStreetMap. The firm said its software is built for developers and customers such as device manufacturers and mobile operators, who want to take advantage of those open mapping databases. CloudMade says its was founded by Symbian co-founder and ex-Microsoft exec Huja Christensen, OpenStreetMap founder Steve Coast, OpenStreetMap contributor Nick Black, and former Symbian and SurfKitchen exec Jim Brown.
