Venture Investments Swing Back
Venture capital investments nationally increased in 2010, for the first time since 2007, according to the latest numbers from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), based on data from Thomson Reuters, which were released late Thursday evening. According to the report, venture capitalists invested $21.8 billion in 3,277 deals in 2010, up 19 percent in terms of dollars and 12 percent over last year. Investments in Q4 totaled $5.0 billion across 765 deals. The top sector for the year was software, with $4.0 billion invested in 2010, followed by biotechnology, with $3.7 billion in deals.
