Intel Buys Silicon Hive

Santa Clara-based Intel has acquired Silicon Hive, a semiconductor spinout of Philips Electronics. According to investor New Venture Partners, the acquisition comes to help Intel bolster its processor architecture. Silicon Hive was spun out of Philips in 2007, with backing from New Venture Partners and TVM Capital. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
