Google Backs Biofuels Firm

Mountain View-based Google, via its Google Ventures investment arm, has invested in a biofuels firm developing technology to convert low grade biomass into biofuels. According to CoolPlanetBiofuels, based in Camarillo, California, it has added Google Ventures to its latest funding round. Amount of the funding was not disclosed. The investment looks to be part of a $17.7M funding round recently disclosed by the firm via regulatory filings; the firm has previously scored funding from GE, NRG, and ConocoPhillips via Energy Technology Ventures.
