Silicon Valley Venture Investments Surge To $2.49B in Q1
Venture capital investments in Silicon Valley continued to grow at the expense of the rest of the nation in Q1, as the region saw $2.491 billion in venture capital investments in Q1, according to the latest numbers from PricewaterhouseCoopers, the NVCA, and Thomson Reuters. According to the MoneyTree report, released late last night, Silicon Valley venture deals rose significantly from the $1.75 billion invested in Q1 of last year, and up from Q4's $2.175 billion. Deal counts were actually down--212 deals for Q1, versus 233 in Q1 of 2010 and 252 in Q4--but larger rounds more than made up the difference. Nationally, there was $5.87 billion in venture capital invested, up from the $5.165 billion invested in Q1 of last year.
