Groupons Employees Grow To 9,000, Disclaims Profitability Quote

Daily deals phenomenon Groupon has updated its IPO filing, saying Thursday afternoon in its updated S-1 that it now has over 9,000 employees. The number is up dramatically from the 7,000 employees the firm reported just a month ago on its initial S-1 filing. The daily deals site also added a disclaimer downplaying a statement that "Groupon was going to be wildly profitable," first published in a story by Bloomberg on June 5, saying that propspective investors "should not rely" on thee statement from Chairman and co-founder Eric Lefkofsky. Groupon said that Lefkofsky "did not agree to be interviewed" and Groupon asked that the statement "not be published".
