Glam Media Acquires Ning

Glam Media, the online content network focused on women, said Tuesday evening that it is acquiring Ning, the online social networking firm. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Ning was founded in 2004. Glam said that Ning has more than 100 million registered user social profiles on the site, and reaches more than 60 million monthly unique visitors. Ning will operate as a new business unit within Glam, headed by current Ning CEO Jason Rosenthal. Glam also said that Marc Andreessen will join the company's board as part of the deal.
