SolarCity Finds $81M In Growth Capital

San Mateo-baesd SolarCity, which is an installer and funder of solar energy projects for the residential, commercial, and nonprofit market, said Wednesday that it has raised $81M in funding. The round was led by Silver Lake Kraftwerk and Valor Equity Partners, and also included Nicholas J. Pritzker, partner at Tao Ventures and senior development advisor for Hyatt Hotels Corp., and Shea Ventures, the venture unit of Shea Homes. The firm said the funding goes towards expansion of sales, marketing, and operations, as well as for technology development and potential acquisitions. More information »
