Seagate Buys Controlling Stake In LaCie

Cupertino-based disk drive maker Seagate Technology said this morning that it is acquiring a controlling interest in French storage products maker LaCie, in a deal worth approximately $186M. According to Seagate, it will acquire the shares of Phillipe Spruch, LaCie's Chairman and CEO, along with shares in his affiliates, which represent 64.6 percent of the company. Seagate said the deal would combine two "highly complementary" product and technology portfolios. LaCie is a provider of consumer hard disk drives, network attached storage, and software.
