Rally.org Gets $7.9M

Rally.org, the San Francisco developer of a social fundraising service, said today that it has raised $7.9M in a Series A venture capital round. The round came from Relay Ventures, Mike Maples of Floodgate Fund, Reid Hoffman of Greylock Partners, Kevin Rose of Google Ventures, Craig Shapiro of Collaborative Fund, and angels Michael Birch, Tim Ferriss, Eric Ries, Josh Spear, Scott Belsky, and others. The firm said the new funding round will go to hire engineers and scale its platform. Rally.org's website is used by people with a cause to help get the word out about their efforts and raise money.
