Google Backs Cancer Software Developer Flatiron Health

Google Ventures, along with a long list of local Silicon Valley angels, has put its funding behind a developer of data mining and cloud-based software aimed at improving cancer treatment. Flatiron Health, based in New York, said it has raised $8M in a Series A funding today. The funding was led by Google Ventures, and also included First Round Capital, Laboratory Corporation of America, Great Oaks Capital, The Social+Capital Partnership, SV Angel, IA Ventures, along with Chris Dixon, Jared Hecht, Ken Fox, Aaron Levie, Jack Abraham, David Tisch and Ed Zimmerman. The company was founded by Nat Turner and Zach Weinberg. Flatiron Health said it is using data mining technology to help improve treatment of cancer patients. More information »
