DataStax Gets $45M For Cassandra NoSQL

San Mateo-based DataStax, which helps to develop and support the Apache Cassandra NoSQL database software, has raised $45M in a big, Series D funding. According to the company, the funding was led by Scale Venture Partners, and also included Lightspeed Venture Partners, Crosslink Capital and Meritech Capital Partners, DFJ Growth and Next World Capital. DataStax said the funding will go towards international expansion, channel growth, and product development. DataStax helps develop the Apache Cassandra database, and is squarely aiming at moving customers from their Oracle database installs to the open source, NoSQL database software, which is used in the big data market.
