GemShare Gets $1.2M, Launches Service Recommendations App

San Francisco-based GemShare, a new startup developing iOS apps to help people find recommendations from friends and their network for local service providers, has raised $1.2M in a seed funding, and launched its product. The company said its funding came from Greylock Partners and Second Avenue Partners, as well as Rich Barton (Expedia, Zillow), Mika Salmi (CreativeLive), and Ellen Levy (Silicon Valley Connect). GemShare's app--which runs on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch--helps users get recommendations on all kinds of local services from their friends and their contacts. More information »
