Twitter Buys ZipDial

San Francisco-based Twitter said this morning that it has acquired ZipDial, a developer of a mobile platform which connects people with companies via SMS, voice, mobile web, and mobile apps. ZipDial was based in Bangalore, India. Financial terms of the by were not disclosed. Twitter said the deal will help it connect with the billions of people coming online in countries like Brazil, India, and Indonesia, via SMS, voice, or other non-Internet wireless. Twitter said it will open up a new engineering office in Bangalore as part of the buy.
