Clarus Ventures Raises $500M Fund

South San Francisco- and Cambridge, Mass.-based healthcare venture investor Clarus Ventures said today that it has closed on a $500M fund, its third, Clarus Lifesciences III, L.P.. Clarus said the new fund brings its total under management to more than $1.7 billion. According to the investor, Clarus III close significantly over its initial, $375M target. Clarus Ventures said the new fund will focus primarily on therapeutics-focused companies and R&D risk sharing partnerships with the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, and that it will commit an average of $15M to $50M per investment from Clarus III.
