Flex Logix Gets $7.4M For FPGA-In-SoC

Mountain View-based Flex Logix, which develops technology to allow the inclusion of FPGAs within systems-on-a-chip (SoC), said today that it has raised $7.4M in funding. The company said the funding came from Eclipse Ventures (which is part of Formation 8), Lux Capital, and the Tate Family Trust. Formation 8's Shirish Sathaye has joined the company's board with the funding. Flex Logix develops a FPGA array technology which can be embedded in SoC circuits, allowing for programmable logic within ASICs, which makes it easier for designers to modify those ASICs, add new functionality, customize circuitry, or upgrade those ASICs without requiring another spin of that silicon.
