Blockstream Finds $55M For Blockchain Technology

San Francisco-based Blockstream, which is developing blockchain technology, has raised $55M in a Series A funding, the company said today. The founding came from Horizons Ventures, AXA Strategic Ventures, and Digital Garage, along with AME Cloud Ventures, Blockchain Capital, Future\Perfect Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Mosaic Ventures, and Seven Seas Venture Partners. Horizons Ventures gains a seat on the board. The company says it has now raised $76M in total for its crypto currency technology, which is based on Bitcoin and the Sidechains extension to the protocol. The company's original seed investors include Reid Hoffman, Khosla Ventures, Real Ventures, Nicolas Berggruen, Crypto Currency Partners, Future\Perfect Ventures, Danny Hillis, Eric Schmidt's Innovation Endeavors, Max Levchin, Mosaic Ventures, Ray Ozzie, Ribbit Capital, and Jerry Yang's AME Cloud Ventures.
