MapD Gains $10M For Massively Parallel, GPU Database Software

San Francisco-based MapD, which develops GPU-accelerated database software aimed at visual analytics, has raised $10M in a Series A funding. The funding came from Vanedge Capital, Verizon Ventures and Nvidia Corporation, along with GV (Google Ventures). MapD's software--which was created at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL)--distributes SQL queries across massively parallel GPU nodes. MapD is led by Todd Mostak.
